What is a Dyno & Why You May Need a Tune

A dynamometer, often referred to as a dyno is a specialised tool that is used to measure the output of your engine. At Thoroughbred Performance and Engineering utilise a chassis dyno build right here in Melbourne, Victoria to make sure your car is running at its best.

We use the dyno's data acquisition and engine function graphing techniques to establish an understanding of your vehicles real-world performance by providing accurate information about your engine’s horsepower, torque and air-fuel mixture in real time. The information gained from this procedure can also be used to accurately diagnose faults and complaints.

Dyno tuning is an essential part of the modification process, calibrating the ECU parameters and algorithms, to suit the powertrains upgrades (turbos, forged internals, cam shaft, etc) thereby increasing the performance and torque of your vehicle to meet your demands.

The dyno is not just a great tool for those who have performance cars, but also a great tool for those of you whose vehicles carry large amounts of weight, whether it be from your trailer or toolbox canopy. A dyno test will offer us the necessary information to understand how your vehicle could be working more efficiently with the increased load.
